Andy Cohen and Anderson Cooper are famous for their alcohol-fueled antics every New Year’s Eve on CNN New Year’s Eve livebut fans of the broadcast learned this week that CNN might not be so impressed with how the two TV personalities choose to ring in the new year.

According to Diversity, in a town hall debate Tuesday between CNN staff and Chris Licht, the company’s chairman and CEO, Licht expressed concern that drinking on camera could cause CNN to lose “respect” with its viewers. Although Cohen and Cooper are said to be allowed to drink alcohol during the main part of the show, Diversity reports that they, along with other correspondents and anchors who may, in previous years, drink alcohol on and off camera in Times Square, will be asked not to imbibe.

But Cohen says fear not: His plans to welcome 2023 include plenty of booze.

“I think New Year’s Eve is a night to go hard,” he tells Yahoo Life, “and I’m going to go hard on New Year’s Eve.”

And he will do it … for the fans watching from the couch.

“I think part of the ‘playing at home’ factor on New Year’s Eve, I think people enjoy watching me try to plaster Anderson, and I will,” Cohen says. “The announcement yesterday was that CNN doesn’t want their correspondents to drink on New Year’s Eve. I think people don’t understand. I’ll be drinking on New Year’s Eve – be sure of that.”

Cohen spoke to Yahoo Life as part of his work promoting Fresca’s new Fresca Mixed, a new twist on the classic soda that contains tequila or vodka. A longtime fan of drinking Fresca mixed with tequila, Cohen says his partnership with the brand is a perfect fit.

“This is the most perfect pair of a person who represents a product,” says the 54-year-old. “Not only does it taste great, but, for those of us who love to celebrate but are watching what we’re drinking – if you look at a Paloma Fresca Blend versus the sugar you’d find in a margarita, it’s it is more likely. a completely different planet.”

But what will be Cohen’s drink of choice on New Year’s Eve? The IS Watch What Happens Live host, who has named Fresca the “VP of Frisky,” says that his favorite cocktail is Fresca mixed with tequila. Seriously.

“I have been drinking Fresca and tequila together for many years,” he says. “That’s why I’m here, it’s no coincidence.”
